Monet, Waterlillies

This small art quilt was made to a group challenge. I use Derwent Inktense and Watercolour Pencils. I added more water to catch the watercolour-effect. It is interesting that I use different quilting stitches above the horizont and upper. The quilt is available here:

Heron Quilt

This is the newest version of Heron quilt. You may see the older version in a post below. So this quilt is also hand dyed , and painted. I use not only silk paint but Derwent Inktense also at the body of the Heron. I use fabric outliner - black at the outlines of the bird. I use some confetti quilting, especially the flower, and the green leaves at the feet of the bird. Interesting that I use hand dyed fabric on the border block. This dye process is a bit time consuming, but worth the energy. The quilt is available here

Quilt

Windmill by the riverside

This small sized quilt is inspired by a russian painter. The technic is derwent, but at this picture I use not only derwent inktense pencils, as watercolour- so I use more water. But I use the Derwent Watercolour pastel pencils as well. These pencils are water soluble and it was so great to use. During the work I added the lighter colours first, as the lighter spaces in the picture, and gradually I added some darker tones of blue I use about 3-4 kind of blue, light blue, pale blue , pale turquoise blue, and dark blue. At the beginning of the work I drawed the main objects of the picture as the windmill and the flowers in the water. After finishing the painting of the top I added 3 layers and use black thread to sketch the outlines the windmill and water flowers. Later I added white fmq stitching the remaining part of the picture. I use here solid colour to let the colours get through, and finished with raw edge technic. So this is ready to frame. This quilt is available her...

Flowery quilt

This is a small quilt hand dyed base and applicated flowers. I painted the fabric with Pébeo silk paint. After one day dry I heat set it. The vase is also hand dyed fabric. I use black thread for foliage, leaves. This quilt was made for a PFA quilt challenge. Henry Mattise, Mrs Mattise. Inspired by this great  french painter. The backgrund is derwent inktence with water, the womans hear is black fabric, silk pen, and the other parts are derwent inktense. I use black thread, made the face more strong, and the lace and the necklace is made with black thread and free motion quilting. At the end I put the remaining threads to the bottom. The quilts are available here:

Fresh spring quilt, Tavaszi quilt

This is a newly made piece. I use derwent inktense pencils silk pens fabric paint thread sketching free motion quilting. It is interesting that I now tried out a new top fabric, not cotton canvas but cotton puplene, a softer lighter kind of fabric, it is much better to use for derwent inktense pencils, it was easy to use, a watercolour-like effect for the green background and cloud. The back side is beige raw cotton fabric I use polyesther batting. Very soft and easy piece.  This bird theme quilt is made on a pre quilted fabric base, originally it was a big size quilt, but I decided to cut up and made some small quilts. I embroidered small birds and branches with leaves.  This is a hand drawn quilted fiber art. First I draw the butterfly, with fabric rayon, then I added silk paint in ochre and blue-green. Then some fabric rayon for the flowers. After fixing under medium heat ironing under porchment paper I did the free motion quilting with black colour thr...

Ballerina art quilt

This is another piece of the Degas inspired quilts. I like the simple sketches, the dark colours of lines and the beige background colours. As usually I begin with drawing with a pencil the main lines the shape. Then I use fabric rayon in different colours: black, beige, ochre, bordeaux, white. I made the outlines stronger, and then made the quilt sandwich, with polyesther vliese and raw cotton at the back side. During the quilting process I made first the outlines with black thread, the body the rock and head and hear. Then I change the thread colour to beige and done the other parts of the quilts. When I have finished the stitching, I use Markal paint stick to whitening the rock and some part of the body, like shoulder. The quilt is available here:
